Centimeter Accuracy with the Reach RS+ Survey Kit
In order to achieve cm accuracy in RTK, the Emlid Reach RS+ unit will need to receive corrections. In the case of the Reach RS+ Survey Kit the Reach RS+ rover unit can be linked with a ‘local’ Emlid Reach RS+ base station to give cm accuracy relative to where the base station is located.
A Base Station is usually set to a known latitude, longitude and height when it is placed, this is referred to as a ‘known’ point. This base will keep monitoring the satellites above and will calculate position corrections and send them to the Rover.
Emlid Reach RS+ can be used as a Base Station, it can either be set up on a ‘known’ point at a static location and ‘transmit’ corrections over the Internet. It can also be set up locally, if this is the case all results will be cm accurate relative to the base station position.
When it comes to Emlid Reach RS+ Unit transmitting corrections over the internet, it is important to note the ‘baseline’. The baseline is the distance between the GNSS Client and the Base Station in the case of the RS+ the maximum for this is 10Km. The reason for this is further the rover from the base station the less accuracy it will have. This is due to different atmospheric conditions at different locations.
